Pole Courses
The best way to learn pole is in our 6-week courses. Our Level 1-9 courses include a mix of pole tricks and choreography with the content building each week until you have a whole pole routine! The tricks progressively increase in difficulty from one level to the next, helping you to build your strength and flexibility in a safe way!
FUN
At The Pole Gym, fun is at the heart of everything we do. From nailing a new spin to sharing laughter with fellow students, every class is an opportunity to celebrate movement and community. It’s not just a workout—it’s a chance to connect, grow, and have a blast!
DANCE
We embrace the beauty and versatility of dance by combining diverse styles into our pole and aerial routines. Whether it’s lyrical, Latin, jazz, sexy, or contemporary, our classes encourage self-expression and creativity. At The Pole Gym, we celebrate all forms of dance, helping you discover your unique style!
FITNESS
Blend strength, flexibility, and endurance into every class. Pole and aerial training provide a full-body workout that’s as challenging as it is rewarding. Build muscle, improve coordination, and achieve milestones you never thought possible—all at your own pace in a supportive environment.
How It Works
Our Level 1–9 courses combine pole tricks and choreography, with content building each week until you have a complete pole routine. Each level explores a different dance style, with tricks becoming progressively more challenging as you advance. Dance-based training builds strength, endurance, and coordination while keeping classes engaging, so you’re getting fit, staying motivated, and having fun without it feeling like a workout.
Our Level 1 course is designed for people who have never done pole before! No previous dance or fitness experience is required or expected. We focus on your first climbs, spins, head rolls, body rolls and pirouettes – everything you need to know to start pole dancing! The dance style for level 1 is a playful sexy style to get you comfortable with all your sexy basics! Our Level 1 course includes access to the studio for training and a “3 For FREE Casual Pass” so you can see everything we have to offer! Book online!
In Level 2 we focus on consolidating your strength by building on the tricks you learnt in Level 1. Tricks in Level 2 include spin variations, climb variations, flare kicks and layouts designed to help build your strength and confidence for later levels. The Level 2 routine is a slower Lyrical Style, with a focus on emotional connection and storytelling brought to life by the song lyrics. This style of dance aims to develop your lines, expression and grace while increasing strength and mobility.
In Level 3 your classes move to a 90-minute format to accommodate the increasing difficulty of your tricks, which includes inverting (going upside down) for the first time! This level is a great bridge between the beginner and intermediate levels of pole. In Level 3 we shake things up with a high energy Jazz choreography in the Fosse style. Fosse Jazz style is synonymous with Broadway (think Chicago or Cabaret) and features signature moves like curved shoulders, hip rolls and thrusts, and the famous jazz hands. Level 3 is suitable to be performed in jazz/street heels.
The Level 4 course is performed in the Classic Style of pole dance. This style has an emphasis on sensuality, beautiful shapes and seductive styles of movement. The Classic Style is designed to be performed in heels and Level 4 helps you build your skills and technique dancing in heels! In Level 4 the tricks incorporate more types of inverted (upside down) moves including laybacks, leg hangs and inverted V. This level will really start to build your strength, and make you feel like a sexy bi@tch at the same time!
This high intensity, Latin flavoured routine will really get your heart pumping! Contagiously fun and high energy, the Level 5 routine will test your cardio and stamina! The tricks are getting trickier too! Level 5 includes Leg Hangs, Double Arrow (Jamilla), Laybacks, Flag and Handstand Dismounts amongst other new challenges.
Elbow stands, butterflies and shoulder mount lifts are some of the challenges you’ll find as an upper-intermediate level poler in Level 6! Combining these tricks within an Exotic Style choreography will increase your pole strength and stamina! The Exotic Style is characterized by deceptive strength and intricate base work that creates the illusion of weightlessness. There is a focus on more technical movements and heel technique in the Exotic Style and heels are strongly recommended for this level.
Aerial inverts, leg hang changes, superman combos and drops! The tricks in Level 7 take you to new heights and you will showcase them in a Hip Hop style routine. If you’ve ever dreamed of being one of Beyonce or Justin Timberlake’s back-up dancers, you’re going to love this style! In Hip Hop, you’ll focus on more complex movements that can help improve your co-ordination and rhythm.
Shoulder mounts and dismounts, caterpillar (upside down) climbs, Jade split and plenty more! A hard hitting rock routine with hair whips, high kicks and heels!
A contemporary style routine that allows you to showcase all the strength and technique you’ve built as you work towards graduation to the Grads Program! Tricks include reverse entry handspring, brass monkey, aerial shoulder mount and aerial foot press!

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need any experience to join classes at The Pole Gym?
You do not need any previous experience to join classes at The Pole Gym. The studio offers beginner courses designed for absolute beginners with no prior dance, fitness or pole experience required. The environment is supportive with classes structured so you can build strength, coordination and confidence at your own pace.
What should I wear to class?
Wear comfortable activewear that allows movement and skin contact with the apparatus. For pole classes this typically means shorts and a fitted top so you can grip the pole with your skin. Avoid lotions or oils before class as they make gripping difficult. Trainers, water and a towel are advisable to bring if you expect to sweat. (General guidance based on pole class norms; not all details are specifically listed on The Pole Gym site)
Are classes suitable for all fitness levels?
Yes. The Pole Gym offers classes for all fitness levels including complete beginners and more advanced students. Classes are progressive and designed to help you improve strength, flexibility and technique over time. The supportive environment encourages participation regardless of prior fitness background.
Can I book a private lesson?
Yes. The Pole Gym offers private lessons. These can be booked as one-on-one sessions for personalised coaching in either pole or aerial skills. Private lessons provide tailored instruction to your goals and skill development.
What’s the difference between pole and aerial courses?
Pole courses focus on pole fitness and dance using the vertical pole apparatus, where you learn climbs, spins, floorwork and choreography on the pole. Aerial courses use different apparatus such as aerial hoop (lyra) or silks suspended from the ceiling to perform aerial acrobatic movements. The physical demands and techniques vary by apparatus, with aerial classes focusing more on aerial strength, flexibility, wraps and suspended movement compared to floor-to-pole transitions.
Do you offer trial classes?
Yes. The Pole Gym offers trial classes for new students. Trial options include special introductory pole classes so you can experience a session before committing to a full course. These are suitable for complete beginners and give a good introduction to what the studio offers.
