COVID-19 updates

Return from COVID-19 Frequently Asked Questions
Will The Pole Gym classes pick up where the Term 2 timetable left off?
Unfortunately, given the extended closure period it is not feasible for us to resume the remainder of our Term 2 timetable. Many students will have lost strength during the break period – or simply forgotten their routines! We are also not able to accommodate the Term 2 enrolment numbers under the Stage 2 COVID restrictions.
What happens to the remainder of my Term 2 booking?
Credits for payments made towards Term 2 (or Term 3) enrolments can be put towards courses or a casual class pass in our mini-term timetable, or a future timetable. If you are not interested in enrolling in any more classes with us we can arrange a refund of your credits to you. Either way, please contact us via email so that we can arrange your individual preference for you.
I was enrolled in Term 2 before we closed, am I automatically enrolled in the COVID COMEBACK term?
No. If you would like to enrol in a course or casual class in the COVID COMEBACK term please contact us so that we can book you in!
How will the level 1-8 Courses in the COVID COMEBACK term work?
The course are designed to ease you back into pole training, re-build your strength and technique and, as always, ensure you have a bunch of fun! You’ll notice the level 1-8 courses in the mini-term are a hybrid of levels (for example, level 3/4). These courses will include key tricks from both levels, with the focus being on helping you to get your technique, strength and conditioning back. They will also help you figure out which level you feel comfortable booking into when we return to our 6-week term structure from July.
The hybrid level course are predominantly trick only courses. They do not include a specific dance routine, although your instructor may link some of your tricks in a sequence to music as part of your conditioning work.
I see that the courses in the COVID COMEBACK term are a mix of levels. Which one should I book into?
If you were a term 2 student with us, we recommend you enrol in the same level you were in in Term 2. For example, if you were in Level 4 when we closed, we recommend enrolling in Level 3/4.
When choosing your course, please consider that by the time we re-open most people will have been away from pole for almost 3 months and it will take a little time to get back to our previous level of ability. Under Stage 2 restrictions, all fitness activity must be non-contact. This means that we are not able to actively spot your tricks and you will be asked to refrain from tricks if you are not comfortable performing them unspotted.
If in doubt, consider using this mini term as a chance to rebuild your basics and book into a level lower than when you left so that when restrictions are lifted you can return stronger than ever! If you’re still not too sure what course would be best suited to you just reach out to us and ask we are more than happy to help!
I’ve never done pole before – what course is best for me?
Our level 1/2 course is perfect for beginners! Over 4 weeks you’ll work on a range of pole tricks and practice linking your moves together to music in a mini-routine!
If you’re a little unsure if pole is for you, we also have Pole Newbies – which are 45 minute casual class specifically for people new to pole dancing! You’ll learn a few introductory tricks and dance moves and see if this whole thing is all about.
Will we still have access to all the inclusions we usually get in our courses, like unlimited training time?
Our 4-week courses will still include unlimited access to the studio for training outside of class times or during designated student training times. However, since numbers are strictly limited for indoor fitness training in Stage 2 COVID restrictions we do ask that you book your practice time in with reception in advance to avoid disappointment.
Courses start on the 15th June but the studio opens on the 8th of June – if I’m enrolled in a course when does my unlimited training time commence?
If you have enrolled in a course you will have access to unlimited in studio training from our re-opening date on 8th of June. This is subject to Covid number caps. Please book your practice time in with reception I advance to avoid disappointment.
Do I need to pre-book for casual classes?
Yes – we will require bookings for all casual classes, courses and practice time access. You can book your place via your personal member portal or contact us at reception to arrange your booking
Are we able to spot in class?
The Queensland Government Return to Play Guidelines for the sporting, recreation and fitness industries stipulates that all activities must be non-contact until we reach Stage 3 of Covid recovery, currently scheduled for 10 July 2020.
While Stage 2 restrictions remain, we will be continuing our ‘hands off’ policy that was implemented in the lead up to the Covid-19 closures which means no tactile spotting in class. In the interest of student safety, this does mean changes to some class content and you will not work on tricks that you are uncomfortable performing un-spotted during Stage 2. Rest assured your instructors have many creative ways to safely build up your strength, fitness and skills in alternative tricks and exercises.
What changes can we expect to see in the studio in response to COVID-19?
We have implemented a range of changes to help address COVID-19 and keep our students and staff safe in the studio during Stage 2 restrictions:
- Class numbers are strictly limited
- All courses, casual classes and individual training times must be booked in advance. Use your personal member portal on Clubworx to book or contact us at reception via email. Training time must be booked via reception
- There will be a minimum 15-minute break between each class to allow students to leave the studio before the next class arrives, and to allow for studio cleaning to occur.
- To ensure we stay under the Stage 2 number cap, we must ask that students arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before class and, unless participating in the next class, kindly depart the studio promptly at the end of class.
- Hand sanitizer will be available at reception for use when entering and exiting the studio
- Hand soap will be provided in the bathrooms and at the sinks in each studio room for hand washing before, during and after class.
- Students will be requested to bring their own hand towel to wipe their pole. Methylated spirits will be provided by the studio.
- Students will be requested to stay home if feeling sick or have a sick family member at home
